Hand Up Network™ Receives Major Donation of $500,000 for Challenge Match
TYLER, Texas, March 27, 2023– Hand Up Network™, an East Texas-based nonprofit, announced today that they have received a seed donation of $500,000 to offer a Challenge Match to secure funding to purchase and update their facilities in Tyler, Texas. This Challenge Match will allow other donors wishing to support Hand Up Network’s work see their donations matched dollar for dollar up to $500,000.
The donor family has expressed a desire to remain anonymous but issued this statement:
“God has truly blessed us and we want to use our resources to make a difference in our community. Hand Up Network is a wonderful example of God’s love in action. They do not just give stuff away but work hard to come alongside those in need and who are also willing to put in the effort to help themselves. It’s just as the old proverb says…. “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime”. We believe this is biblical and hope this Challenge Match will encourage our fellow East Texans to donate to Hand Up Network and help them change lives for the better!”
Hand Up Network was started in January of 2019 by an experienced international team that wanted to come home to address needs happening in their own community. Just over four years later and Hand Up Network has impacted over 450,000 East Texans through their Mentoring, Victim Services, Immigration, Retail Training, and Response Teams.
“We are humbled beyond words to receive this gift and thankful to know we will be able to continue to grow our work and remain in our facility!” stated Hand Up Network CEO, Sam Smith. “The location in the center of Tyler has allowed us to access the various local communities we serve and it’s a huge relief to be able to know this is our home for sure moving forward! We pray that others continue to see God’s hand on and through our ministry. Our team is honored to serve!”
The Challenge Match will end on June 1st.
