Hand Up Network Response Team Training (HURTeams)

HURT 301: Basic HURT Volunteer Orientation

is required for any/all desiring to serve as a response team member within the Hand Up Network.  It is a two-hour course offered throughout the year. The fee for this instruction is $25 and will include orientation instructions, ID badge and Hand Up Network T-shirt to be worn during Volunteer Service.

Regardless of skill set, role you wish to fill, etc. this class provides a foundation of knowledge into how Hand Up Network operates our Response Teams.  You will have basic knowledge, understanding of our processes, etc. necessary to fill a role with our team as a Level 3 Volunteer on our Response Teams.

HURT 302: Introduction to General Disaster Preparation
 
This is a half-day interactive instruction on personal, home and community preparedness.  The course was designed as a ‘stand-alone’ training for any and all interested in learning how to be better prepared for our East Texas Disaster and emergency situations – but, is offered as a continuation of our 301 Basic Orientation at no additional charge.  The course will cover a great variety of emergency preparedness topics and will help anyone attending to be better positioned to help others in time of need. 
 
HURT 201: Adult/Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
 
This class provides certification in First Aid, proper execution of CPR, and the use of AED’s when available and appropriate.  This is an in-person, hands on class.
 
This is a half-day course that includes the American Red Cross certification.  The fee is $125.  This course does require a minimum of five participants to conduct and the maximum course size will be 10 participants each session. 
 

HURT 101: Hand Up Response Team Level 1 Leadership

This is a two-day (two separate Saturdays) course for those desiring to become certified to lead Hand Up Network response teams.  The first day is a classroom instruction that covers a variety of leadership topics specific to the Hand Up Network organization and protocols followed by an ‘in field’ practicum to orient leader candidates on the Hand Up inventory of response vehicles and equipment.

This course has a $75 fee and requires prior successful completion of HURT 301, HURT 302, current certification in First Aid/CPR/AED and the completion of five different free on-line FEMA courses.
